Ragdoll

Ragdoll Cats

Have you ever wanted a type of cat that follows you around everyday and love to cuddle? If you do, then Ragdoll is the right breed for you. They are adorable cats who love attention.
Ragdoll is a large semi- long-hair breed, males can grow up to 20 pounds, while females can be between 10 and 15. They usually come in 4 patterns: Bi-color, Van, Mitted, and Colorpoint. Bi-colored Ragdolls are white and a solid color, both evenly colored on the Ragdoll’s fur. Van Ragdolls are white with dark spots usually on their head and tail, sometimes on their body. Mitted Ragdolls have four white paws, a white chin, a white belly, and a different color for the rest of their body. Colorpoint Ragdolls have pointed markings in solid, lynx, or tortoiseshell, with no white. Each Ragdoll have a unique pattern with at least 2 of these six colors: seal, blue chocolate, lilac, red, cream. You’ll be amazed how different Ragdolls can look.

Ragdoll cats are not created naturally, the breed is not quite 60 years old. They were first created by a California breeder named Ann Baker in the 1960s who wanted beautiful cats who have a gentle, loving personality. Now, Ragdolls are considered the fifth most popular breed registered by the CFA. Ragdolls got their names from how they love to lay limp lazily in their owner hand, completely trusting their owners when picked up, just like dolls.
Ragdolls are loving and gentle, willing to follow their owners room to room, where ever their owners go, they go. Because of that, Ragdoll cats are sometimes called “puppycats”. Ragdolls keep their playfulness as a kitten, through adulthood, and in old age. They love a game of fetch and sometimes can even go on a leash. As a kitten, Ragdolls can form an unbreakable bond between her and her owner that lasts a lifetime. Ragdolls are not loud, their voice is even described as “soft”, “sweet”, and “musical ”. They love to have attention and lay down where it is about bed height and stay in contact with you.
Ragdoll is a semi-long-haired breed that requires fairly easy grooming, using a steel brush, groom your Ragdoll about twice a week to get rid of any tangles, and so that you won’t get watery fur balls on your carpet. They also need nail clipping and ear cleaning once in a while. Trim their nails either as needed or every 12 days. Look every week or so and see if their ears are dirty. If so, then carefully, not to hurt your Ragdoll, use cotton and some water to gently wipe the dirt off.

Ragdolls are sweet and loyal to their owners, and will always love them. So, what do you think? Would you like a sweet, adorable kitty that follows you around every single day?
